I’m Angela. As a former NSW Secondary school teacher and, university lecturer and course co-ordinator I am passionate about providing teachers, tutors and students access to quality resources and students access to quality learning.
My focus is on supporting students to achieve their personal best through research based best practices. Beyond academic support, I’m committed to mentoring young learners to be flexible with their thinking, resilient to challenge and critical towards their approach to learning.
All my classes run in an online format only.
Here’s some information about my professional experience:
14 years of experience teaching and tutoring English as an additional Language or Dialect students, English Standard and English Advanced students across New South Wales private, public and selective schools
Bachelor of Arts (English Major) and Bachelor of Education (Secondary) Degree from The University of New South Wales
Honors Degree in Education with a thesis written on language, literacy and the preparedness of beginning teachers in teaching literacy in the NSW Curriculum
Experience marking state-wide exams (NAPLAN and Higher School Certificate)
External marker for senior exams
Freelance marker and creator of senior exams for schools (Paper 1 - Unseen Texts and Extended Response, Paper 2 - Extended Response, EAL/D Listening Exams)
Casual lecturer and tutor at The University of New South Wales (School of Education) teaching undergraduate and postgraduate university students
Angela's focus is on supporting individual students to achieve their personal best through scaffolding, explicit teaching and, timely and effective feed-forward (not just feedback)
Angela actively participates in professional learning by attending NESA and English Teacher's Association Seminars to ensure that the content and materials produced are not only enriching but in line with curriculum
